I'm Adopted!

Have you ever known someone who was adopted but they looked like their adoptive parents? You were surprised to learn that the father and or mother had nothing to do with the making of the child yet they look and act just like them? Some adoptions are obvious because the child may be of a different ethnicity than the adoptive parents, but that's not always the case. The scripture tells us that we have been adopted into God's family through Jesus! This is great news for all of us, my question is, do you look like your daddy? Do you act like your daddy? Do you have the same characteristics and habits of God? When one is adopted into a family, they are raised with that families morals and traditions. My Father in Heaven is a giver, so I want to be a giver. My Father in Heaven is a forgiver, so I want to be a forgiver. My Father in Heaven is full of compassion and mercy, so I want to be full of compassion and mercy. I want to look like Jesus! I want to serve like Jesus served! I want to pray like Jesus prayed! I want to have faith like Jesus! I want to carry my cross daily like Jesus did! I so desire to know more and more of the heart of God. There is no one like Him. He has no rival! No equal! None can compare to Him! The depths of His love is greater than the depths of the oceans. The grace He grants us is more than the grace of all humanity put together. He is always ready to bless us and always ready to correct us in love. I'm adopted by God and I am working daily to look just like Jesus! What is in your life that needs to be removed? What is in your life that God is asking you to give up? What are you holding on to that God is asking you to release? It's time to let go and let God! Pray for His strength and guidance and cast your cares - there is no greater joy than having peace through your walk and growing in faith and maturity in Christ. May we look just like our Father!

Ephesians 1:5-6 (MSG) Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (AMP) Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].
